ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and maintain Master Project schedule with detailed Work Breakdown, Plants, Resources and Machinery
  • Create Project Execution Plans — Deciding on proper engineering techniques and milestone sequences for each project stage. Set targets for activities based on each phase of a project plan and ensure it meets client’s specifications. Make estimations for timescales and costs using specialized design software packages
  • Coordinate inputs from different departments and parties and assemble them all together on one workable project management plan to create Project Execution Plan. Able to prepare and update quality schedules, recovery schedule and manpower histogram required for the full span of work
  • Use specialized computer software for engineering and project management purposes, and also to produce visual presentations, using bar charts and graphs to explain work schedules
  • Establishes and implements methods for determining activities duration and critical-path activities within assigned disciplines or specialties and identify significant activities supporting inter-discipline requirements
  • Planning and evaluation of work program of the contractors in conjunction with the Contractual Provisions of the Project
  • Develop the most appropriate economic models and engineering methods for projects and plan the budget required for the project and create various budget heads to document and monitor expenses
  • Prepare strategic plan to complete the project works on time and within the budget. Analyze expenses and identify opportunities to save cost. Make sure complex projects are handled on time and on budget by overseeing the project planning, inventory services, cost control, team leadership, and project management
  • Preparation and Revision of Annual Operating Plan for arrangement of funds
  • Maintain all asset investment plans and ensure compliance to capital expenditure
  • Create Cash-flow analysis (Expected cash inflow vs Expected cash outflow)
  • Engineering skills – planning engineers need a strong understanding of technical engineering principles to predict future problems and find solutions for them
  • Integrates inter-discipline schedule requirements and constraints to establish logical work sequences
  • Liaise with project team to ensure project schedule target dates are maintained
  • Teamwork – interact effectively with cross-functional team members and external stakeholders at various levels of responsibility and maintenance of adequate communication links and interfaces between all project disciplines and senior management
  • Co-ordinate with various departments like Engineering (who provides working drawings), Procurement (who buys materials), Contracts (who awards contracts & raise any issues with the client), quality (who maintains) & Commissioning Departments
  • Develop and maintain suitable project systems and procedures to monitor and forecast the project performance and manage changes within the project
  • Maintain surveillance of all project activities and where necessary initiate corrective actions
  • Project Analysis – To prepare presentable S Curves for Earned Value Analysis, SPI – Schedule Performance Index, CPI – Cost Performance Indicators, Cost Variance, Schedule Variance, Progress Measurement System and so on as per requirements
  • Project Monitor & Report – Monitor day-to-day work progress and provide accurate weekly and monthly reports by swiftly communicating potential progress delays or project slippages and initiate corrective actions if necessary. Track and analyze field results by continuously comparing planned and actual progress and report any differences. Also study the impact of alternative approaches
  • They also manage various schedules to ensure that work is completed as scheduled and to identify schedule-associated cost trends for management attention and action. Responsible to support development of the monthly reports and to perform schedule assessments as requested.
  • Identify, analyze and monitor schedule deviations and recommend corrective action/workaround solutions. Able to prepare progress measurement and reporting templates and implement the same for reporting. Periodic audit of progress. Create Project Closing Reports and Lesson Learned Report
  • Develops and writes the schedule commentary that appears in the monthly progress and similar reports. Identifies and reports activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule and prepare and presents the Critical Items Action Report
  • Collect periodic updates and prepare daily, weekly and monthly updates of the project
  • Create variance reports (Schedule Variance and Cost Variance – usually Earned Value Method (EMV) is used for this) at various stages of the project to analyze deviations
  • Attend regular progress review meetings to facilitate the production of regular progress reports
  • Preparation of Extension of Time claim and close coordination with all the stakeholders for catalyzing the approval of claims
  • Evaluate resources, time etc. for the change order request. Identify and manage the project risks
  • Proactive in ensuring the accomplishment of organizational goals along with self-development
  • Willing to take up additional roles and responsibilities as and when required

QUALIFICATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Job QualificationRequired-
− Graduate Engineer in Civil
− Fully conversant in MS Office Suite for data visualization (Proficient in Excel) & presentation (Proficient in Power-Point)
− Should be well versed on Scheduling software that is being used on the project like Primavera P6 , Microsoft Project, Asta or Tilos etc and MS Project and Project Management tools such as PERT
Preferred-
– Professional Engineering (PE) license are especially attractive, PSP-Project Scheduling Professional, PMI-SP will be an extra advantage

ExperienceMinimum of 8-10 years’ experience, at least 2 projects should have done in a similar role
